WEDDINGS IN UMBRIA

Umbria is an ideal location for weddings, receptions and special parties. With a plethora of medieval churches and chapels in characteristic locations and a multitude of country villas and castles, the perfect location for both the ceremony and reception is not hard to find. Add to this the balmy Mediterranean climate, amazing food and wine (at a fraction of the cost paid in England or America) and you can understand why many chose Umbria for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

As a musician myself, I've played at many wedding receptions in both England and Italy but the two locations almost defy comparison! Eating mediocre food and wine in some drab village hall with the rain drizzling down outside can hardly compare with a balmy evening outside a floodlit medieval villa, the smell of jasmine and citronella in the air as the sound of music and laughter competes with the background hum of cicadas and crickets.

So what is the catch? Getting your guests over here isn't such a big deal any more. Umbria has a large number of close airports to which budget airlines fly to and you can now get directly to Perugia from England with Ryan air. Your guests will also be able to find accommodation without any difficulty and might like to combine attending the wedding with a break or holiday in Italy. The real problem is organisation. Organising a wedding is never easy and if you put distance and Italian bureaucracy into the picture the whole thing can easily become a stressful nightmare.
